MNB Seniors go 1-3 at Kearney tourney

KEARNEY, Neb. — The McCook National Bank Seniors beat area foe Lexington but dropped three other games in last weekend’s Kearney Legion tournament.

Alma 4,

MNB 3

McCook lost the lead late in a 4-3 defeat to Alma on Friday.

The game was tied at 3-3 with Alma batting in the top of the seventh when Daylan Russel singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

Jordan Chauncy started the game for McCook MNB Seniors 18U. Chauncy surrendered two runs on six hits over 5 2/3 innings, striking out 10.

Adam Dugger went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead McCook MNB Seniors 18U in hits. McCook MNB Seniors 18U didn’t commit a single error in the field. Quentin Terry had 12 chances in the field, the most on the team.

Jersey’s 10,

MNB 0

Layne Stevens and Jacob Gomez-Wilson singled for the lone two MNB hits against host Kearney Jersey’s.

MNB 9,

Lexington 5

McCook claimed a 9-5 victory on Saturday, despite a big push by Lexington Pinnacle Bank Seniors in the first inning.

McCook took the lead for good with five runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Joey Gonzales singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run, Alex Anthony doubled on a 0-2 count, scoring three runs, and Coleton Lentz drew a walk, scoring one run.

Jacob Gomez-Wilson was the winning pitcher for MNB (7-9 season record).. The righty allowed seven hits and five runs over seven innings, striking out three.

McCook MNB Seniors 18U totaled eight hits in the game. Anthony, Gonzales, and Tanner Jacobs each managed multiple hits for McCook MNB Seniors 18U. Anthony led McCook MNB Seniors 18U with three hits in four at bats.

Daven Naylor went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Lexington Pinnacle Bank Seniors.

Grand Island 9,

MNB 6

McCook MNB Seniors 18U stayed in it until the end, but GI USave pulled away late in a 9-6 victory on Sunday. The game was tied 6-6 with GI USave batting in the bottom of the fourth when Evan Gydesen singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.

McCook MNB Seniors 18U lost despite out-hitting GI USave 13 to nine.

McCook MNB Seniors 18U racked up 13 hits on the day. Gonzales, Jacobs, Layne Stevens, and Dugger all managed multiple hits for McCook MNB Seniors 18U.

Gonzales led McCook MNB Seniors 18U with three hits in four at bats.

The Seniors are set to host North Platte on Wednesday.
