Sen. Hughes endorses Jim Pillen for governor
COLUMBUS, Neb. -- State Sen. Dan Hughes has endorsed Republican Jim Pillen’s candidacy for governor.
““Our next governor must have a deep understanding of agriculture, and with his experience, Jim Pillen is agriculture,” said Hughes, a farmer from Venango. “Jim is one of us, and that’s why I trust him to look out for rural Nebraska, advance ag interests, and get us where we need to be on property taxes.”
“Throughout his time in the Legislature, Dan Hughes has been a committed advocate for District 44 and ag producers all across our state,” said Pillen. “I’m honored to have his endorsement.”
Hughes, elected to represent District 44 in the officially nonpartisan Unicameral in 2015, will complete two terms in office in 2023, prevented by term limits from seeking reelection.
In a new digital ad (https://bit.ly/3vIhsNb) released by the Pillen campaign, Hughes says “Agriculture is the largest industry in the State of Nebraska, so it’s critical that we have someone who understands agriculture in the Governor’s mansion.
“Jim Pillen is agriculture. He does understand agriculture, he knows the importance, and he’s someone I trust.
“Jim’s a conservative. You know, he’s pro-life, pro-gun. You know, he’s someone that we can rely on.
“Jim understands property taxes, he will fight for rural Nebraska, and he will get things done.”
