McCOOK, Neb. — Dundy County-Stratton’s Mark Nelms and Nolan Burrell finished 1-2 and helped golf the Tigers to a team title at Tuesday’s Hitchcock County Invite.

Both Tigers fired rounds of 94 which was good enough to edge Maywood-Hayes Center’s Weston Morrow (95) by one stroke.

Cheve Lutz gave DC-S three of the top four individual places when he shot 100 for fourth.

Hitchcock County’s Anthony Christofferson capped the top five with a 101 at the always challenging Heritage Hills Golf Course.

Lane Brown’s 103 helped the Tigers (391) score a 33-stroke victory over top contender Hitchcock County Purple (424).

Conner Owens also competed for the Tigers, finishing with 121.

Brown was ninth overall where he joined Perkins County’s Wil Long (101), Storm Peterson (102), Hitchcock White’s Kyle Baxter (102) and Falcon Purple Trevor Kefalas (105) in the tourney Top 10.

Ryland Peters paced McCook’s JV golfers, carding 105 to place 11th overall.

The Bison were fourth as a team (447) just two strokes behind Perkins County’s varsity squad (445).

Trevor Nokes (16th) and Jackson Dellevoet (17th) both shot 111. Ben Junker fired 120 to complete the McCook team total.

Kolin Pate (106) powered the Medicine Valley Raiders into fifth place.

Pate placed 13th while M.V. teammate Kellen Cole was 14th (107).

Host Hitchcock County Purple powered into second place because Ashton Parker Johnston (12th, 106) and Darin Neben (19th, 112) joined Christofferson among the top 20 tourney golfers.

Besides Baxter, Hitchcock County White’s top golfer was Jack McArthur in 18th place with 112. Teammate Alaina Haddix totaled a 121.

The Southwest Roughriders entered three golfers, so they didn’t record a team score.

Colton Sedlacek delivered a team-best 116 for 22nd place.

Ory Johnson added 124 for M-HC.
