S.V. Eagles win RPAC golf tournament
BENKELMAN, Neb. — Southern Valley’s five top 10 medalists helped the Eagles earn a four-stroke win in Thursday’s RPAC golf tournament.
The Eagles shot 360 which edged Alma’s 364 despite champion Tanner Heckenlively firing a league-best 80 and Grant McQuay taking third at 84.
The Eagles dominated those remaining top 10 spots with freshman Kamden Bose finishing fourth (86), senior Brody Yant fifth (89), Matt Henderson seventh (90) , Braxton Hammond ninth (93) and senior Colton Burgeson 19th (93).
Together, the Eagles repeated their 2019 RPAC team title.
The Cambridge Trojans took third overall (378) as Caleb Shaner placed second (86) behind only Heckenlively.
Thatcher Patterson and Ethan Sides gave the Trojans three top 15 medalists. They both finished a round of 96.
Host Dundy County-Stratton finished fourth among nine teams and junior Nolan Burrell shot 89 to place sixth.
Lane Broen wearned eighth (92) followed by Cheve Lutz and Mark Nelms both shooting 102.
Hitchcock County placed sixth (445), Maywood-Hayes Center seventh (460) and Medicine Valley (465) ahead of Wallace’s 537.
Paxton (404) completed the top five RPAC teams. Arapahoe did not record a team score but Haiden Van Houtan and Grant Taylor both medaled with 95.
