TRENTON, Neb. — One point and one final event decided two terrific team title chases at the Hitchcock County Invitational on Wednesday.

Only a half-point separated the top boys’ teams, but Hitchcock County edged Southwest 109-108.5 thanks to its grand finale mile-relay championship.

Colton Hagan, Bradyn Hutto, Trent Kisker and Drew Scott finished in 3:48.08 and barely three seconds faster than Southwest’s final determined foursome.

Hutto was a three-event champion because he also won both the 110 and 300-meter hurdles. Teammate Keegan Shuler gave the Falcons a 1-2 finish in that 110-high event.

Meanwhile, the Medicine Valley girls were 105-104 winners over Oakley (Kan.) which earned that championship.

Freshman Stella Heapy stepped up to win two events (300-hurdles , high jump) which continued her super first season as a Raider.

Hitchcock County’s Brydn Huttowon the 110-hurdles over challengers like Southwest’s Cole Barnett on Wednesday in Trenton.
