MCC shot 38.7 percent from the field in the first 20 minutes and was seven of 17 from the 3-point line (41.2 percent).
“It was one of those games that just wasn’t our night and you have to credit to NJC. They played a heck of game and made the plays when they needed to whenever we started making a run,” Brandl said.
The Plainsmen maintained a 44-36 edge over MCC in the second half.
MCC shot 39.3 percent for the game and after a sizzling performance from the 3-point line in Friday’s win over Western Wyoming (60.9 percent on 23 shots) the Tribe cooled off to 12 of 30 shots for the game (40 percent) on Saturday.
