Younger Bison sweep Indians to cap busy week

McCOOK, Neb. —McCook’s eighth-grade boys swept three from Ogallala to finish a busy week of basketball Tuesday evening.

Thursday, Feb. 4
McCook vs. Gothenburg- Both A and B pull out victories against the Swedes. A team won 31-24 and was led by Gabe Gans with seven points.
“ You know you’re playing team basketball when nine players find their way into the scoring book,” coach Jeremy Young said.
B team pulls out a close one 16-15, Led by Jonathan Trail with six points and Jayden Fox’s four.
Monday — Mccook vs. Chase CountyChase county’s A team pulls away with a victory over McCook A’s 33-21. Bison shot five of 17from the charity stripe.
“ We missed too many bunnies and free throws to win against a good team,” Young observed.
Bs took care of business with a 25-16 victory. Kyson Barger led the Bison with nine points, followed by Landon Kmoch with seven.
“ B team did a great job of taking care of the ball and having patience at the offensive end,” the coach said.
C Team fell 16-10. Jayden Fox scored four pts to lead the bison.
Tuesday — McCook vs. Ogallala
Bison As poured it on against the Indians 40-9.
“ That was a great bounce back game from last night and a nice team effort,” Young concluded.
The Bison were up 16-4 at half and added another 24 in the final two quarters. Josiah Wilkinson and Davien Hanson both scored in double figures with 13 and 10. Andrew Pochop added eight, Kyson Barger had six while Osney Barber, Quinton Terry and Trent Matson finished with one.
Bison B]s come out firing on all cylinders, winning their last four contests. Bison jumped out to an early 19-3 lead. Bison’s defense held strong in the 2nd half coming away with a 33-5 victory. Landon Kmoch scored 12, Barger 6, Jonathan Trail 4, Sutton Labrie 4, Joshua Wilkinson 3, Reid Loop 2 and Trent Matson with 2.
Bison Cs finish the night off with a 24-7 win over the Indians. Coleman Chism and Jayden Fox led the Bison with 12 and 8. Jonathan Trail and Ryan Hixon both added 2 each.
“Overall, it was a great night for the Bison, we played extremely well on the defensive end at all levels.”
