Bison sizzle above 60 percent shooting in win

McCOOK, Neb. — The McCook Bison made 20 of 33 two-points for 61 percent and featured five double-figure scorers in Saturday's 71-49 boys basketball win over visiting Minden.

Senior Mark Arp also made six three-pointers besides all three inside shots for a team-high 24 points.

Junior Cole Cappel achieved double-double status with 11 points and 10 rebounds — eight being offensive boards.

Senior Isaiah Stoddard also nearly reached that level as he totaled 10 points and nine rebounds.

Sophomore Evan Humphrey added another 16 points with junior Brendan Gillen scoring 10.

More about the Bison victory will appear in Tuesday's Gazette. McCook (6-9 record) will host the Lexington Minutemen Tuesday evening.

"It was a good all-around game for us," coach Joe Imus commented during a post-game radio interview. "We played unselfish ball."

Hastings 48, McCook 40

HASTINGS, Neb. — McCook overcame a two-point first quarter Friday night and pulled even at 24-24, but the Hastings Tigers finished strong for this home win.
