McCook nine makes all-B District 4 gridiron team

McCOOK, Neb. — Sophomore lineman Eli Kehler and wide receiver Lucas Gomez-Wilson have joined McCook seniors on the All-Class B District 4 football team.
Kehler was one of five Bison trench warriors who made the team:
Seniors Torrington Ford, Isaiah Weimers, Adrian Manzanares and Reid Steinbeck.
Steinbeck’s specialty was defense where he ignited a Bison unit that only allowed three foes to score more than 14 points all season.
Weimers and Ford started on both lines for another Bison district champion team.
Manzanares mauled opponents while playing linebacker and center for the Bison.
Senior Mason Schmoker was a constant big-play threat when he picked off passes or caught throws from classmate Mark Arp.
Arp also earned Class B District 4 top honors for his quarterbacking and defensive back talents.
No Bison fan should ever forget Arp’s dazzling, zig-zagging run across Weiland Field which ignited a winning drive against top District 4 contender Scottsbluff.
“My legs were burning. I was probably more tired than anyone,” Arp admitted.
The Bison went on to beat those Bearcats, 13-10, for another B-4 title.
Lexington, Alliance and Gering also fell to McCook this season.
Of course, senior bulldozer Alec Langan was one more Class B District 4 Bison at both fullback and linebacker.
Langan surpassed 200 rush yards with four touchdowns in one game at Seward this fall.
