Bison sweep through Lexington on Senior Day
McCOOK, Neb. — Distancing was no problem throughout McCook High’s 9-0 varsity tennis dual trouncing of Lexington on Tuesday.
The Bison never allowed any match closer than 8-4 while mixing in four 8-1 distant decisions on “Senior Day” at their home tennis courts.
Seniors Isaac Hinze and Mason Michaelis set the tone with a No. 3doubles 8-1 win.
Hinze delivered that same domination in his No. 1 singles match which led to his 100th varsity career ‘W’.

Meanwhile, defending Class B No. 2 singles champ Michaelis was scoring McCook’s one 8-0 sweep of the afternoon.
Other varsity matches featured:
No. 3 singles: Evan Humphrey won 8-4;
No. 4 singles: Lincoln Michaelis won 8-1;
No. 5 singles: Nathaniel Miller won 8-1;
No. 6 singles: Joel Miller won 8-3.
Miller and Miller teamed had already teamed for an 8-2 triumph at No. 2 doubles.
McCook’s No. 1 doubles team of Evan Humphrey and Lincoln Michaelis also delivered an 8-3 victory.
Kearney Catholic offered only slightly more resistance on Monday where the Bison won an 8-1 dual.
Nathan Miller swept his No. 5 singles match 8-0 to go with 8-1 wins from No. 1 Hinze, No. 4 Lincoln Michaelis, No. 6 Joel Miller and that No. 3 doubles Hinze/Mason Michaelis duo.
M.M. was an 8-2 winner at No. 2 singles with those Miller boys bouncing past K.C.’s No. 2 doubles team by that same 8-2 margin.
The one Kearney Catholic victory was 8-5 over Humphrey/Lincoln Michaelis at No. 1 doubles.
