Berdena L. Kleckner

March 12, 1971 - July 3, 2020

McCOOK, Neb. — Berdena L. Kleckner, age 49, passed away at the CHI Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Neb., on July 3, 2020, following a courageous battle against cancer.

She was born in McCook on March 12, 1971, to Eugene E. and Nancy J. (Haag) Morris.   Berdena went to school in Grand Island, Neb., Kennewick, Wash., and she also attended Beaver Valley High School, where she graduated in 1989.  She enjoyed taking part in drama/plays while attending high school.  Following her graduation, Berdena moved to Omaha, Neb., where she continued her education, going to Central Community College and working at a bank and insurance company.  Following the birth of her nephew, Nathan, she moved to McCook so she could spend time with him and her sister, Kendra.

On Dec. 4, 1999, Berdena was united in marriage to Daniel Kleckner at the Methodist Church in McCook.  To this union two sons were born: Tristen and Conner. Berdena was very family oriented and her boys were the most important things to her.  When they were little, she enjoyed playing with them and taking them on walks.  She always made sure they had wonderful holidays and especially liked having her Halloween suppers for them and dressing up with them to go trick or treating.  She and Dan loved and supported their boys in all their activities, spending time together attending Tristen’s drama events and Conner’s sporting events.  It was important to Berdena that her family take vacations each summer and they had many fun trips. They especially enjoyed going to the mountains. Berdena also enjoyed being around her extended family and was always ready to help someone out if they had a need.  She never knew a stranger and sometimes she would bring them home to meals or family gatherings and occasionally even offered them a place to live if they needed one.  Berdena especially enjoyed her career at the McCook Safety Center as a dispatcher/jailer; for 11 years her kindness, compassion, and dedication shined as she helped serve McCook.  Her loyalty to the men and women in law enforcement was always present.

Berdena was preceded in death by her father, Eugene; maternal grandparents, George and Neola Haag; paternal grandparents, Eugene and Lilia Morris; and uncle, Larry Haag.

Survivors include her husband, Daniel of McCook; two sons, Tristen Kleckner of Fort Collins, Colo., and Conner Kleckner of McCook; mother, Nancy Morris of McCook; sister, Kendra (Allen) Weintz of McCook; nephews, Nathan (Sable) Weintz of Kearney and Trey Weintz of McCook; nieces, Seraphine Stacy of Colorado, Alicia Watson and Natasha Klentz of California; nephews, Forrest and Jacob Kleckner of Texas; along with many aunts, uncles and friends.

Funeral services will be at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook on Wednesday, July 8, 2020, at 10:30 a.m., with Sinners Sanctified Christian Motorcycle Ministries officiating.
