Falcon proves again there's still good news in 2020

Hitchcock County senior Shaye Porter (seated center) capped a terrific three-sport, all-state academic career when she signed to play volleyball for the Midland University Warriors recently. Joining Shaye to celebrate the moment were (from left) dad Scott Porter, mom Tandi Porter, Hitchcock coach Lisa Faimon along with sisters Karstyn Porter and Bentlee Porter. Shaye was the leading hitter on last fall’s 19-12 Falcon team which featured 17 past Dundy County-Stratton during a 3-1 subdistrict tournament win at McCook High School on Oct. 28. Shaye smashed 16 in a sweep of Maxwell, 15 vs. Arapahoe and 14 to lead the three-set win over Cambridge while totaling 226 kills overall. She also started all three seasons on Hitchcock’s basketball team before competing in track/field every spring until this year of course. Shaye will join the Warriors. She plans on pursuing a career in physical therapy.
