Virus testing
A member of the Nebraska National Guard prepares a COVID-19 swabbing test at the Red Willow County Fairgrounds Wednesday. About 20 members of the Army and Air Force National Guard conducted the free testing, in conjunction with the Southwest Nebraska Public Health Department and the Nebraska State Patrol. Lt. Cody Wyatt of Omaha, Neb., who helped with the testing in McCook, is an emergency room nurse and has seen first-hand COVID-19 virus patients. “This is not a joke, it’s real,” he said. The National Guard testing sites occurring around the state “shows the community we’re here for each other.” He recommended that in addition to frequent hand washing, hand sanitizer is also recommended as long as the back of the hands and thumbs are covered, too. A total of 86 were tested Wednesday.
