Arapahoe girls nearly surprise Cardinals
ARAPAHOE, Neb. — The 10-win Alma Cardinals needed a 20-6 fourth quarter to rally past Arapahoe, 46-37, Tuesday evening.
Coach Preston Blackmore’s Warriors (2-15 record) appeared ready to score a great home win.
Arapahoe jumped in front with a 9-4 first quarter.
Though Alma (10-6) rallied to a 20-20 halftime tie, the Warriors led again 31-26 entering those final eight minutes.
Senior Terri Hilker’s 17 points on 17 shots sparked the Arapahoe effort.
Hilker hit all three of the Warrior threes.
Another six did hit shots with freshmen Emerson Swanson adding six points, Gentry Warner five, seniors Adrienne North four, Danielle Eidson two, sophomore Tracy Roskop two and sophomore Hope Koller one point.
Roskop cleaned the backboards for a team-high eight rebounds.
North sent out two assists while Hilker swiped two steals.
No individual stats were obtained for Alma.
Arapahoe will get another shot at a home when the Brady Eagles (6-14 record) visit Friday evening.
