Unbeaten Bulldogs start fast vs. Falcons
PLEASANTON, Neb. — Pleasanton’s girls showed why thy are 10-0 during a 61-33 Holiday Tournament finals win over Hitchcock County on Friday.
The Bulldogs roared in front, 25-1, through one quarter and 41-6 entering halftime.
Hitchcock County slipped to 5-3 in this rematch of a 2018 Class D-1 state tournament game at Lincoln.
No Falcon individual stats were obtained.
Coach Mark Brown’s team reached the title game with a 54-47 victory over Brady Friday evening.
Broncos prevail
PAXTON, Neb. — The unbeaten Mullen Broncos took an early lead and fought off Maywood-Hayes Center, 52-40, in Friday’s Paxton Tournament title game.
Senior Avery Johnson broke through for 13 points while freshman Ashlin Broz scored 11 for M-HC.
Yet the Wolves only shot 20 percent overall from two-point range and slipped to 8-2 this season.
Johnson swiped six steals to help the Wolves stay within striking range.
Broz hit seven of 11 free throws to top a 75-percent free throw effort (18 for 24) in this title game.
