Major Cornhole tourney set for next weekend
NORTH PLATTE, Neb. — The North Platte Area Sports Commission has teamed up once again with the American Cornhole Organization to bring you the ACO Master Series Major Cornhole Tournament this January 10-11 at the D&N Event Center in North Platte.
Schedule for this two-day event is as follows:
Friday
11 a.m. — Doors open
Noon — Blind Draw Division
4 p.m. — Senior’s and Women’s Singles
5 p.m. – Junior’s Singles (must be AAU members as well as ACO members)
7 p.m. — Co-ed Doubles (may start before other divisions are completed)
Saturday
8:30 a.m. – Doors Open
10 a.m. – World Singles
4 p.m. — – World Doubles (may start before World Singles is completed)
To increase interest in the competition, The North Platte Area Sports Commission and The North Platte/Lincoln County Visitors Bureau has committed $3,000 in additional payouts.
“Our hope is that by adding this extra money it will entice these competitors to come see what Nebraska and North Platte has to offer,” says Samantha Geisler, Sports and Events Marketing Specialist with the North Platte Area Sports Commission which is a division of the North Platte/Lincoln County Visitors Bureau.
“Majors are the only points-earning tournament to qualify for the World Championships, which is typically held in Las Vegas in July.”
Each division will get a piece of the total prize, but the biggest cash payout will be to the winner of the Doubles division on Saturday.
