CENTRAL CITY, Neb. — Ruthelma J. Speicher, 89, of Central City, formerly of Wauneta, Neb., passed away Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2019, at Cottonwood Estates in Central City.

Memorial services are Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2020, at 10:30 a.m., at Community Bible Church in Central City with Pastor Dale Janzen and Mark Hartley officiating and Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2020, at United Methodist Church in Wauneta with Pastor Elias Mukindia and Mark Hartley officiating. Visitation is Monday, Jan. 6, 2020, from 6-8 p.m. at Community Bible Church in Central City. Burial of ashes is in the Wauneta Cemetery in Wauneta.

Ruth was born July 11, 1930, to Robert Frank and Eva Cleo (Haile) Ross on the family farm in Haviland, Kan. On Aug. 4, 1948, she married Milo O. Smith in Haviland. To this union they were blessed with three girls and one boy. They farmed in Colorado and Kansas before returning to the home place at Grant and also farmed west of Wauneta. On Aug. 14, 1996, Ruth married Harold Speicher in Wray, Colo. To this union added four stepdaughters and one stepson. Ruth was a CNA for 38 years at the nursing home in Wauneta.

Ruth was involved with the George Phillips Israel touring group as a host and board member of the George Phillips Association. She hosted 18 trips of Israel. She was very involved in the Mary Jo Phillips Child Daycare Center of the Philippines, as well as Imperial Valley Holiness Camp. After moving to Central City in June of 2016, Ruth then became involved in Community Bible Church, the Senior Center, the Lone Tree Singers Concerts, and attended several bible studies in the community. She enjoyed walking with her friends, playing various games, doing jigsaw puzzles and flower gardening. In January of 2019, Ruth moved into Cottonwood Estates in Central City, where she continued doing activities she loved until her passing.

Ruth is survived by her children, Sylvia (Charles) Huskey of Omaha, Frank (Pam) Smith of Wauneta, Joyce (Ron) Bley of Wauneta, and Millie (John) Creutzberg of Central City; step-children, Verlene (Gary) Boden of Frederick, Colo., Venetta (Tom) Shelden of Kileen, Texas, and Becky Speicher of Russell, Kan.; 11 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; 11 step-grandchildren, 22 step-great-grandchildren, and 19 step- great-great-grandchildren

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; her parents; brothers, Eugene and Francis Ross; sister, Estermae Johnson; granddaughter, Shauna Smith; stepson, Del Speicher, stepdaughters, Colleen James and Cleta Sloan; and step-grandsons, Tommy Speicher and Ron Speicher.
