It all starts with breakfast

Ericka Hoyt and Grant Dixon of Farm Credit Services of America, McCook offices, serve pancakes and sausage patties this morning to Lori and Robert Goltl of rural Palisade at the free breakfast opening event of the annual "McCook Farm, Ranch and Hemp Expo." Coordinator Darren Dale of Star Expos has more than 400 venders from 20 states, Canada and Australia, presenters, demonstrators, booths, live cattle displays and ranch horse sales for "farmers and ranchers, home decorators and those seeking education on all things ag." One of Dale's presenters is Brian Waldrip who has 13 years in cannabis-specific cultivation and is a leader in sustainable practices of the emerging U.S. hemp industry. The expo goes until 7 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Thursday, all on the Red Willow County Fairgrounds in the 1500 block of West Fifth. Parking and admission are free of charge.
