Trojans reach top five, Bison lead area at Lex

LEXINGTON, Neb. — Cambridge High’s golfers reached the top five and McCook senior Kaylie Puckett led all area particpants at Friday’s Lexington Invitational.

The Trojans tallied 420 as a team which topped seven other varsity teams competing.

Returning state qualifier Lexi Sines shot 95 which actually tied Puckett for 13th place overall.

Maria Jauken finished 16th overall at 96 and Chloe Besler fired a round of 110.

North Platte shot 322 to edge Gering’s 327 for the team title.

York shot 396 and Cozad fired 411 to finish just in front of the Trojans.

McCook took 11th overall at 467 while Southwest finished 12th at 491.

Hannah Goltl totaled 112 for McCook’s top scorer behind Puckett.

Freshmen Chayse Friehe and Rylie Balderston both shot 130s as they continue to gain varsity experience.

Southwest’s Cayleigh McConville shot a Roughrider-leading 109.

Kaylie Guerrero fired 123, Kylea Stritt 129 and Alyssa Springer shot 130.

Destry Jorgensen’s 119 contributed to the Cambridge Trojan top five total.

Gering’s Madi Schaepler shot 74 for the individual title.

Tennis: McCook boys at Kearney Catholic Triangular with GICC, 1:30 p.m. Junior high volleyball: North Platte at McCook 8th grade, 4:30 p.m.

Freshman football: Hershey at McCook, 5 p.m.JV football: McCook at Lexington, 6 p.m.

Freshman/JV volleyball: McCook at North Platte St. Pat’s, 5 p.m.
