HOLDREGE, Neb. — Fear on the eve of Friday the 13th was never an option for McCook High’s volleyball team.

Or any other night, but the Bison’s fearless and confident approach really paid off against rival Holdrege.

Elsa Wilcox crushed 10 kills, Tiara Matson made 10 digs and Liviya Wier served five of McCook’s 10 aces Thursday evening.

The result was a 25-16, 25-11, 27-25 Bison sweep for their first vasity volleyball win this season.

“They played really well as a team and showed they had no fear,” Feeney confirmed about her 1-5 team featuring no seniors. “I am really proud of them!”

The Bison also showed multiple talents while taking down those host Dusters.

Matson sent 11 assists to the Bison’s big swingers and added four kills of her own.

Wier hustled to 16 digs besides her “ace” performance.

Wilcox handled similar duties to make sure McCook would leave with a victory.

Other leaders in the triumph:

Sophomre Peyton Doucet with 11 digs;

Junior Narissa Fawver matched Matson’s 11 assists;

Sophomore Addison Randel drilled another eight kills.

The Bison rebounded from a tough loss to powerful Ogallala (4-1) Tuesday night.

Holdrege (0-6) will continue pursuit of its first ‘W’ this fall.

The Bison now get ready to spend next week in their home gym.

They’ll invite Hershey into McCook High to play a 7 p.m. varsity match Tuesday night.

On Saturday, McCook hosts its annual eight-team Bison Invitational. Watch for a schedule in an upcoming Gazette.
