TRENTON, Neb. — Ruth G. (Hall) Brown, age 98, of Trenton, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2019, at the Sarah Ann Hester Home in Benkelman, Neb.
Ruth was born on Aug. 21, 1921, to Harley and Sadie (Jewell) Dunn at the Jewell family homestead in Frontier County. Ruth lived in Wyoming until she was three years old. She moved back to Nebraska and then later in life, lived in Colorado.
She graduated from the Nebraska School of Agriculture at Curtis, Neb., in 1939. She began teaching school the fall of 1939 and taught for seven years in the rural schools in Frontier County. Ruth loved to quilt, garden, and always raised a large garden. She loved to travel and spend time with her family and her many grandchildren.
Ruth married Clarence D. Hall on March 30, 1943. They made their home north of Indianola, Neb., where they raised their six children, Jerry, Doug, Carol, Lynda and Duane. After Clarence’s passing, Ruth married Ellsworth E. Brown on Aug. 21, 1994, in Colorado. They lived in Colorado for a few years before moving back to Nebraska.
Preceding her in death were her husbands, Clarence D. Hall and Ellsworth E. Brown; parents, Harley and Sadie Dunn; sisters, Vinnie A. and Mae; brothers, Melvin, David L. and Harold D. Dunn; and grandson, Michael Hall in 2004.
Ruth is survived by her children, Jerry (Linda) Hall of McCook, Doug Hall of Trenton, Carol (Rich) Fegley of Indianola, Lynda (Bill) Neely of Trenton, and James Hall of Fort Myers, Fla.; brother, Harvey (Clara) Dunn of Indianola; sister, Norma Lund of Lakeland, Fla.; seven grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be given in her name.
Memorial service will be Friday, Sept. 13, 2019, 11 a.m. at Memorial United Methodist Church in McCook. Inurnment will follow at 3 p.m. at Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, Neb.
