McCOOK, Neb. — Marilyn Mae Cuellar of McCook passed away at her Brookdale home on Friday, Aug. 16, 2019. She was 83 years old.
Marilyn was born on May 12, 1936, in Culbertson, Neb., to John Albert and Anita Ethel (Drake) Cline. She graduated from Culbertson High School with the Class of 1953.
On Jan. 19, 1954, she was united in marriage to Manuel Cuellar. To this union four children were born. Besides being a busy mother and homemaker, Marilyn worked for the Red Willow County Reporter, Hested’s Store, Recreation Unlimited, and McCook Clinic. She eventually started her own business known as Glass House Antiques, a well-known business for 30 years throughout Nebraska, Kansas and Colorado for beautiful glass and other choice items of collectables and antiques. Marilyn loved going to auctions, antiques, reading, and playing cards, especially with her pinochle and pitch clubs. Other interests included traveling, family genealogy, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Marilyn also volunteered for over 25 years at the McCook Humane Society where she was acting treasurer, advisor, board member, and of course, dog walker. She loved all God’s creatures especially the little dogs she called her own. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors and the McCook Eagle’s Auxiliary.
Preceding her in death were her parents, John and Anita Cline; great-grandson, Eric Werkmeister; sister, Alyce Pappan; and brother, Allen Cline.
Survivors include her children, Mike (Millie) Cuellar of Indianola, Tom (Donna) Cuellar of Denver, Colo., Steve (Mary) Cuellar of Culbertson and Sherry (Mike) Lepper of McCook; sister, Lois Clark of Ohio; 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; numerous family and a host of friends.
Memorials may be given in her name to the McCook Humane Society or McCook Pantry.
A memorial service will be Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2019, 3 p.m. at Herrmann Jones Funeral Chapel with Clark Bates officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in Calvary Cemetery.
