McCook's Rebels Pink wins one 'Cracker

A McCook Rebels Pink second baseman hustled and dove to tag first base, but that ball didn’t switch hands properly as the Scottsbluff Broadway Bombers runner was safe Saturday night. The Broadway Bombers escaped with a 10-8 victory.

McCOOK, Neb. — Saturday morning agreed with McCook Rebels Pink as the 14-and-under team scored a 6-0 win over Brush (Colo.) Beetdiggers to start their Firecracker tournament.

However, Rebels Pink ran into three other tough contests.

They nearly erased a 10-2 deficit only to fall 10-8 against Scottsbluff’s Broadway Bombers Saturday night.

On Sunday, Rebels Pink was close again only to see Kearney Aftershook hold on for a 3-2 victory.

The Pink played their finale Sunday afternoon and — again — only one run decided it with Norton (Kan.) Stealerz escaping by a 5-4 final.

McCook Force won this 14-and-under division while the Bombers took second.

No McCook team entered the Firecraker 18-and-under division.

The Broadway Bombers won this title and Aurora Impact second among six teams. Bombers finished 4-0 for the title.
