McCook matchups to start the state tourney

LINCOLN, Neb. — How the McCook Bison are seeded entering Class B state tennis tourney play on Thursday:

No. 1 singles

Senior Kassidy Michaelis (38-0 record) is seeded No. 3.

Michaelis will meet Ogallala junior Maddie Ketchum to start the first round. A win would put her against Hershey’s Keyana Hastings or Sadie Weiner of Omaha Roncalli.

The top two seeds are Katherine Krueger of Omaha Duchesne (25-0) and Brianna Liu of Brownell-Talbot Concordia (18-5).

No. 2 singles

Senior Sydney Stewart (33-5) is seeded No. 4.

She’ll play Waverly senior Analiese Wiedenbeck with the winner meeting either South Sioux City’s Elizabeth Gerkin or Pilar Craft from Roncalli.

Top seed is Courtney Toner of Grand Island Central Catholic (21-2).

No. 1 doubles

Senior Riley Hansen/junior Kori Uerling (35-3) are seeded No.3.

They’ll take on South Sioux City seniors Megann Mogensen and Ngoc Nguyen. Winner will advance to play either Scottsbluff or Omaha Roncalli.

The top two seeds are Omaha Duchesne’s Lesley Lam/Meena Satpathy (25-0) and Grand Island CC’s Katie Maser/Avery Kalvoda (22-1).

No. 2 doubles

Senior Delaney Jumps /sophomore Megan Hodgson (28-6) are seeded No. 8.

They’ll start state vs. Kara Buss/Ellie Marker of Adams Central. Winner meets either Waverly or Brownell Talbot/Concordia.

Top seed are juniors Jane Krueger and Kiersten Capelle of Omaha Duchesne (25-1).
