TRENTON, Neb. — Super Southwest determination made the difference as those Roughriders were Hitchcock County Invite champs on Tuesday.

The Roughriders totaled 165 team points which topped every girls or boys’ total with four event titles.

Senior Nicole Dewey continued her terrific season with high and long jumping titles.

Teammate Haylee Adams climbed to first in the pole vault.

Roughriders then went the distance to win a 3200-relay race.

Kylea Stritt, Cara Oltmer, Lanie Overton and Cierra Clements circled that Falcon track eight times to win by more than 38 full season.

Otherwise, the ’Riders delivered enough high places and or personal bests for an impressive 51-point victory over their closest challenger — a talented Hitchcock team who owned two team titles already this season.

Hitchcock was strong again especially athletes like Kass Kisker, who won the triple jump and 100-high hurdles.

Senior Kyleigh Scott dashed to a 200-dash title while the Falcons’ 400-meter relay also finished first.

Kailee Kolbet, Shaye Porter, Lindsey Rippen and Faith Wagner ran those four winning legs of 100 meters each.

Yet there was enough top performances from other teams to take many crucial points.

McCook’s JV girls made an impact with champions Emma Dutton (100 dash), Jorlynn Chanucy (400) and Sierra Kotschwar (shot put) plus this 1600-meter winning relay: Addison Randel, Duton, Madison Tarencz-Rasmusen and Graci Nelson.

The Bison were third just ahead of Wauneta-Palisade which featured 1600-run champion Zoey Boos.

Medicine Valley also delivered some great performances en route to 63 points.

Sabra Schmidt ran her fastest 800 meters eveer for that title.

Teammate Acelyn Klein reached 100’11” to win the discus — almost 18 feet beyond that next best effort.

Other personal bests can be seen in results at right marked with a (PR).
