OBERLIN, Kan. — Marilou Theresia (Berndt) Long, 87, died Thursday (April 4, 2019), at Good Samaritan Society of Decatur County in Oberlin.
She was born on March 16, 1932, in rural Decatur County to Arthur John and Vina Irene (Gragg) Berndt.
She graduated from Decatur County High School in 1950. She attended Denver University. She married Elden J. Long at Faith Lutheran Church in Oberlin on Oct. 6, 1956.
She owned a store and worked at Interior Connections.
She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, ELCA Women’s Group, Sunshine Group, BPW, the Home Makers Unit (Three Prairie Unit), and was a leader for the Boy Scouts and 4-H.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elden Long; sister, Nathalie (Floyd) Badsky; and grandson, Geoffrey Miles Long
Survivors include children, Greg (Mary) Long, Brad (Shanna) Long and Linda (Brad) Wade, all of Oberlin; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services are Monday, April 8, 2019, 10 a.m., at Faith Lutheran Church in Oberlin. The burial was held in Oberlin Cemetery.
