COLBY, Kan. -- The McCook Community College baseball team lost a slugfest in Kansas Monday dropping a 12-10 decision to Colby Community College.

“We battled back from a tough start,” MCC coach Jon Olsen said. After giving up three runs in the bottom of the first inning, MCC came back to tie the game with three runs in the second with a pair of walks, sandwiched around a Beau Hawley (Greeley, Colo.) single to load the bases. Angel Mojica’s (Denver) sacrifice fly made it 3-1 and a two-run, two-out double by Julio Seperich (Las Vegas) knotted the game at 3-3.

The Trojans muscled up with a five-run second, and added two in the third and another in the fourth to take a 11-3 lead which held until the MCC seventh.

Sophomore Jesse Bloom, (Centennial, Colo.) started on the mound and went 2.1 innings, giving up eight earned runs.
