W-P Broncos win second meet of week

Senior Dalton Harchelroad and the Wauneta-Palisade boys rumbled to their second track-field invite team title this week with Thursday’s victory at Sutherland. The Broncos took first at Tuesday’s Hitchcock County Invitational in Trenton.

Senior Dennis Cavanugh dominated both the discus and shot put while Wauneta-Palisade powered to its second invite title of the week on Thursday.

The Broncos scored 90 points to outdistance host Sutherland (75) along with 10 other teams for this victory.

Senior Dalton Harchelroad soared to a triple jump triumph and junior Ben Anderjaska earned an 800-meter first place.

The Broncos took home a Hitchcock County Invite team title on Tuesday.

Dundy County-Stratton reached the top five at Sutherland as Michael Frederick, Lincoln Waters Damon Latta and Major Marlin ran those winning laps.

Meanwhile, Hitchcock County’s girls did not send their full team after winning the home invite on Tuesday.

DC-S led the area by placing third behind North Platte St. Pat’s and Hershey.

Distance dynamo Sable Lambley was busy again. She won the 800 and 3200-meter races.

Haylee Davis delivered a high jump title for the Tigers when she cleared 4’10”.

Maywood-Hayes Center finished fiifth with senior Jayden Widener earning her second 400-meter championship this week. She also took first at the Hitchcock Invite.

Wauneta-Palisade’s Destany Simpson and teammate Faith Lemon went 1-2 in the shot put to help those Broncos place sixth among 12 teams.
