McCook makes its mark on all-SWC boys team

McCOOK, Neb. — Coaches from one of Nebraska’s strong basketball conferences this season didn’t forget to honor two McCook Bison.

Seniors James Mockry and Seth Dugger both earned third-team selections to the all-Southwest Conference squad announced on Monday.

SWC champion Ogallala took the only unbeaten record into state tournament play earlier this month.

The Indians were 27-0 until they lost to finalist North Bend Central, but rebounded and beat defending C-1 champ Wahoo in their consolation final.

Cozad owned a 19-6 record, Ainsworth went 16-8 and Broken Bow finished 15-10.

The Bison defeated both Bow and Ainsworth while posting a 9-12 overall record.

Dugger and Mockry weretwo of the most consistent performers on a Bison team that battled key injuries all season.

McCook reached the subdistrict title game.

The all-SWC first team: seniors Gage Delimont of Ainsworth, Dillon Geiser from Cozad, Broken Bow’s Josh Harvey and Minden sharpshooter Elijah Lovin along wih Ogallala junior Carter Brown.
