Bison JV tennis girls split first duals
NORTH PLATTE, Neb. — An 8-0 win over Lexington helped the McCook JV tennis team shake off its opening loss to Hershey on Tuesday.
The Bison split their squad since Hershey’s roster was limited due to injuries, illness and other problems.
However, those Pathers who played did deliver a 7-1 dual victory.
McCook’s Emily Alberts and Carley Peters delivered that one Bison victory by a 6-2 final margin.
Kerrigan Shaw/Kendra Rogers and Erica Hoyt/Hannah Goltl battled through the other closest Bison matches before falling 6-4.
“We learned a lot about what we are doing well, and what we need to work on,” coach Matt Wiemers commented.
McCook recovered quickly for a clean sweep of the Minutemaids.
No fewer than five of those Bison wins featured a 6-0 margin.
The complete scoring summary;
Megan Hodgson/Elsa Wilcox, Brynn Golden/Olivia Koetter, Emily Laurie/Emily Kjendal, McKenna Cooper/Madison Cooper and Richa Patel/Hayden Johnson all scored 6-0 victories;
Kristin Collicott/Rose Stoney, Alexis Carney/Jackie Hinze and Joslyn Hammond/Emily Kjendal all triumphed 6-1.
“Despite some weather, the girls had great days on the court,” Wiemers concluded.
McCook hosts North Platte and Hershey starting at 2 p.m. Thursday.
