Ailene “Yvonne” Houghtelling

McCOOK, Neb. — Ailene “Yvonne” Houghtelling of McCook passed away Sunday, March 3, 2019, at Hillcrest Nursing Home. She was 92 years old.

Yvonne was born in Jennings, Kan., to Karl Clarence and Grace (May) Teater on Sept. 10, 1926.

She was married to Lawrence Graves and to this union three sons were born. In 1967, she was united in marriage to Milton James Houghtelling, Sr.

Yvonne worked at Burns Foot Clinic for many years. She and Milton enjoyed camping with their family. They also enjoyed spending time with family in Colorado. Her other hobbies included cross-word puzzles, watching NASCAR, and the Huskers.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Karl and Grace Teater; three sons, Joe, Jim and Jerry Graves; two step-sons, Richard and Gilbert Houghtelling; and siblings, V’Yonne, Howard, Ken and Karl.

Survivors include her two step-sons, Milton Houghtelling, Jr. of Denver, Colo., and Kenneth Houghtelling and wife, Soni of Holyoke, Colo.; two step-daughters, Carrie and husband, Wendell Klock of Kearney, Neb., and Diane and husband, Ron Wittman of Castle Rock, Colo.; three granddaughters, Amy (Chris) Evans of Westminster, Colo., Cammi (Michael) Dukes of Wauneta, Neb., and La Sandra Sumner of Beaver City, Neb.; numerous step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be given in her name to the McCook Food Pantry and left at Herrmann Jones Funeral Chapel.

The family will honor Yvonne’s request to be cremated. A private family service will be held in the spring.
