McCook's Special swimmers reach state meet

McCOOK, Neb. — Despite cold temperatures and nasty roads, five athletes from McCook braved the weather to compete in their regional Special Olympics swim meet.
All five girls did exceptionally well and qualified for the state meet which will be held in May in Omaha. Individual results are as follows:
Cheyenne Fletcher: first in her 15 M walk and third in her 15 M unassisted swim
Girls 4X 25 M freestyle relay finised first. Team members include Brittany Carney, Kassadi Lemburg, Kiersten Erickson, and Amanda Kinne.
Brittany Carney: second in 100 freestyle, did not qualify in 100 breaststroke.
Kiersten Erickson: first 100-meter freestyle and second 50 M freestyle.
Kassadi Lemburg: third 50-meter freestyle and 1st 50 M backstroke.
Amanda Kinne: 3rd 100 M freestyle and 2nd 200 M freestyle.
“The girls have worked very hard and their hard work paid off in their performances. I am so proud of each and everyone of them,” coach Lynn Kinne commented following the meet.
