Commissioners OK two new subdivisions
McCOOK, Neb. — Red Willow County commissioners approved proposals for two new subdivisions on the northwest edge of the City of McCook at their weekly meeting Monday morning.
The two subdivision are Jerry Gohl's "Heritage Pointe Addition" and Mark Bishop's "Bishop Acres Second Subdivision." Both were recommended for commissioners' approval by the county's zoning commission, which met Feb. 7.
Each subdivision is west of Highway 83 and north of J Street.
Gohl's subdivision has eight lots in Block One and seven lots in Block Two, each lot varying in size from 1.05 acres to 1.63 acres. Tyson Bardsley of Miller & Associates told commissioners this new subdivision will need to be annexed into the city and rezoned from Residential Medium (RM) and AG (Agriculture) to Business Commercial.
Bishop Acres is divided into four blocks: Block One, six available lots, 3.01 acres to 4.05 acres; Block Two, 10 lots, 3.02 to 5.07 acres; Block Three, six lots, 3.64 to 4.84 acres; and Block Four, nine available lots, 3.60 to 9.77 acres.
The "zoning notes" on the proposal indicate the land is zoned Agricultural.
McCook's city council will need to review the proposals because each subdivision is within the city's two-mile jurisdiction.
Commission chairman Earl McNutt said the county and the city will need to communicate and agree upon street construction requirements and standards, and who will be responsible for maintenance and repairs.
In other action, commissioners:
— Locked in a price of $2.56 per gallon for the oil that will be needed for summer 2019 armor coating projects. Tyson Bardsley, the county's roads superintendent, told commissioners that Asphalt Fuel Supply of Tulsa, Okla., will lower the price per gallon if oil prices drop before the county's projects commence. The other bid received for the summer oil needs was $2.71 per gallon from Jebro Inc. of Sioux City, Iowa.
Last year, the county used 37,328 gallons of road-grade oil at $2.43 per gallon.
— Will continue discussion of acquiring "In God We Trust" signs or banners for the courthouse at their Feb. 25 meeting. Greg Holthus, courthouse maintenance supervisor, said he will contact artist Roxanne Owens, who offered proposals and estimates in September 2018.
— Reappointed Cheryl Stewart and MaryBeth Eisenmenger to the county health board, Stewart's term to expire Jan. 31, 2022, and Eisenmenger's term to expire April 30, 2022.
