EXINGTON, Neb. — Maybe the McCook High girls can make an even greater impression on Southwest Conference runner-up Ogallala in their rematch Friday night.

Ogallala coach Chris Mestl gave great reviews following the Indians’ semifinal skirmish last weekend.

The Indians took a quick 19-6 lead only to see McCook rally with senior post Jayceea Hanson powering in 10 of her 14 season-best points.

Sophomore guard Liviya Wier kept the Bison storming with 21 points as they even took a lead through three quarters against their No. 2-seeded foe.

However, Ogallala eventually did regain control and hit enough clutch shots to win 61-49.

“They’re a good team, no doubt about that,” Mestl said.

Ogallala lost a 45-42 title game to Broken Bow and host McCook on Friday.
