Trojan girls take RPAC East title game
BERTRAND, Neb. — The RPAC East girls final was no contest as Cambridge downed Alma’s Cardinals, 56-27, Thursday evening.
Trojan defense delivered 21 steals, while junior Korynn Clason scored 22 points by hitting 10 of her 14 shots.
The Cardinals (8-9 record) stayed within 10-6 through quarter but faced a 27-9 deficit entering intermission.
Cambridge (10-5 record) made it 42-14 with an equally strong third period.
Chloe Craig shot 67 percent, making four of her six field goals for another eight points.
Autumn Deterding tickled the nets for seven clutch points and senior Rylee Cross scored six.
Claire Craig, Cali Gunderson and Schyler Hoberty finished with four points each.
Gunderson also swiped a Trojan-high five steals and Clason stole four.
Leading rebounders were Chloe Craig (six), Clason, Deterding and Claire Craig (five each).
The Trojans earn another shot at mighty Dundy County-Stratton (16-1) Saturday night at McCook Community College’s Graff Events Center.
DC-S stopped 14-4 Maywood Hayes-Center, 52-33, to determine the RPAC West winner at Pxton.
The title game will tip at 7:45 p.m. on Saturday.
