Minutemen and 'Maids will challenge Bison teams tonight

McCOOK, Neb. — Potential future playoff foe Lexington arrives to take on both the McCook girls and boys tonight at McCook High School.
Varsity basketball action should begin around 5:45 p.m. with boys following the girls’ game.
The Minutemaids (2-13 record) are struggling along on a seven-game losing streak — except those foes include 14-0 Wahoo, 13-2 Sdney, 12-2 Wahoo Bishop Neumann and 11-3 Hastings Adams Central.
In fact, only team that’s defeated the LEx g irls since Christmas currently owns a worse than 8-5 record: the 1-10 Columbus Discoverers.
Freshman Sarah Treffer has been the most dangerous ’Maid, averaging almost 13 points hrough Lex’s first 13 contests.
McCook (5-7 record) has won three of its last five with those losses to strong Sidney and Hastings teams.
Tonight could be crucial in determining Class B subdistrict seedings when tourney time arrives next month.
The same can be said about tonight’s boys contest between 7-7 Lex and 6-5 McCook.
However, the teams are entering from opposite offensive spectrums.
Lexington scored a season-best 81 points while routing Sidney, 81-36, on Saturday.
The Bison boys must find some points after tallying only 28 vs. Minden in Saturday’s 34-28 home defeat.
