Rawlins girls sting Hornets from Dighton
Junior Kristen Beckman’s 19 points and 11 rebounds powered the Rawlins County Buffaloes’ third win this season, 37-28, over Dighton, Kan., in Castlerock Classic play Friday evening.
Senior Angie Singhateh blocked five Dighton shots besides her own 11 boards and eight points on three-for-five shooting.
The Buffaloes (3-1 record) only led 24-23 through three quarters before breaking away.
Dighton’s Hornets dropped to 1-3 this season.
Unbeaten Hoxie (4-0) dealt the Buffs that one defeat, 46-38, in Saturday’s tourney title game.
Seniors Amy Crouse tallied 12 points, Singhateh 10 and Beckman nine to lead Rawlins County.
The Buffaloes were facing 5-0 Dundy County-Stratton Tuesday night at Benkelman.
Rawlins County boys are 2-2 after beating Quinter, Kan., by a 66-57 final on Saturday but losing 43-30 to Ellis, Kan., Friday night. No individual stats were obtained.
