MCC men too sharp for Lancers

TORRINGTON, Wyo. – The McCook Community College men took charge in the final ten minutes of play Friday to score a Region IX road win over Eastern Wyoming 86-75.

MCC improves to 3-1 on the season and will take on Laramie County Community College Saturday.

The Golden Eagles were 1-2 heading into Friday’s game with North Platte Community College.

No individual or team stats were obtained.

CHEYENNE, Wyo. – The McCook Community men’s basketball team lost to Laramie County Community College Saturday, 80-74.

The Indians led by as many as 11 points midway through the first half but the Golden Eagles stormed back to take the halftime lead 44-38.

Sophomore Peanut Cunningham (Louisville, Kent.) led MCC with 19 points.

Freshman Mardrez McBride (Augusta, Ga.) had 13 points.

Sophomore Jacob Boden (Stockholm, Sweden) added 10 points and freshman Kailee White Jr. (Henrietta, N.Y.) scored nine.

MCC shot 39.3 percent from the field, five of 11 from beyond the 3-point line (42.1 percent) and 18 of 24 free throws (75 percent).

Laramie’s Tyrese Potoma led all scorers with 30 points making six of eight 3-point shots.

The Golden Eagles won the rebound edge 45-35. Bodin had nine, Cunningham had seven.

Laramie County improves to 2-3 on the season.

MCC falls to 3-2 on the season.

The Indians return to take on a pair of Kansas schools in the Region IX vs. Region V shootout Nov. 16 and 17. MCC plays Cloud County Community College Friday at 6 p.m. and Garden City Community College Saturday at 4 p.m.
