Beverly Jean (Polly) Graves

Oct. 10, 1948 - Nov. 7, 2018

CHAPPELL, Neb. — Beverly Jean (Polly) Graves, age 70, of Chappell, formerly of Palisade, Neb., passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2018, at the Garden County Hospital in Oshkosh, Neb.

Beverly was born Oct. 10, 1948, in Imperial, Neb., to parents, Robert K. and Beulah M. (Kennedy) Polly. She attended Wauneta High School, graduating with the class of 1966. Beverly then went on to attend Kearney State College where she attended classes for a couple of years.

On Aug. 18, 1968, Beverly married her high school sweetheart, Jerry Graves. The couple made their home in Palisade and were the proud parents of two daughters, Heather and Hillary. Beverly worked off and on throughout her years, helping to support the family; however, her first priority was raising her two daughters. She stayed home with her children and volunteered for numerous activities whether it was running errands, baking good items, transporting kids to and from activities and going to the many ballgames and school activities her daughters were involved with. Beverly was a member of the Palisade United Methodist Church and a member of the Assembly of God Church in Chappell.

Beverly was a good wife and mother and enjoyed keeping the family home in Palisade comfortable and inviting. She took pride in her home and had a passion for planting flowers and working in the yard. She was the planner in the family and often planned excursions to Colorado for fun weekend getaways. She worked in the local café when her daughters were in school and she thoroughly enjoyed visiting and joking around with many of the patrons. She was witty and liked giving people a hard time in her fun loving ways. Beverly enjoyed helping people and especially enjoyed elderly people. She had a knack for making them feel special and in her later years, she was the manager of the Senior Center in Chappell, where she met and made many friends. Her fun loving spirit and her beautiful smile has touched many people over the years and she will be dearly missed. Beverly has now gone home to her heavenly father and to her dear and wonderful husband, Jerry Graves, of 50 years of marriage. Rest in peace, Mom, we love you!

Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, whom she loved so dearly, Robert and Beulah Polly.

Beverly is survived by her two daughters, Heather (Dan) Simants of Fairbanks, Alaska and Hillary (Simeon) Jackson of Kingsport, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Joshua Simants and Judah and Shiloh Jackson; and another baby, Jackson, who will be arriving in this world in June of 2019.

Funeral services will be Monday, Nov. 12, 2018, at the Palisade United Methodist Church, beginning at 3 p.m., with Rev. Elias Mukindia and Pastor Kevin Jacobs, officiating.

Burial will follow the funeral service in the Palisade Cemetery.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association Nebraska, 11711 Arbor Street, Suite No. 10, Omaha, NE 68144.
