Bison picked to win battle with Vikings tonight

OMAHA, Neb. —Omaha prepzone experts are picking the McCook Bison to win tonight’s Class B state football quarterfinal against powerful Waverly.
The game kicks off at 6 p.m. on McCook’s historic Weiland Field home turf.
Other Class B favorites expected to win are No. 1 Omaha Skutt over No. 8 Blair, No. 2 Scottsbluff over No. 7 Omaha Roncalli and No. 3 York over No. 6 Seward.
That would set up the final four showdowns next most Class B fans have anticipated: McCook at Omaha Skutt and York at Scottsbluff.
Those four teams have owned Class B’s top spots all season.
The No. 5 Vikings have gone 8-2 against a talented schedule, losing only to Seward and Skutt.
Seward dominated the first three quarters, leading 35-7 before Waverly took off on a 20-point fourth-quarter comeback that fell one score short.
The game was long ago in week one on Friday, Aug. 24.
Waverly actually led powerful Skutt, 7-2 through one quarter but fell behind 17-7 through three quarters of a 30-14 defeat.
The Bison (9-1) are looking for a big win after losing their most recent big-time showdown, 23-13, at Scottsbluff two weeks ago.
McCook could get a shot at avenging last year’s playoff loss at Skutt, but know first things first.
These Vikings will be tough.
