DC-S Tiger runner takes first at UNK

KEARNEY, Neb. — Dundy County-Stratton junior Sable Lambley won Monday’s Class D race featuring 208 runners at the University of Nebraska-Kearney Invitational.

Lambley conquered the Kearney Country Club state course where all four class titles are decided in 20:25.92.

She finished nearly 18 seconds ahead of top challenger Madison Gerkin from McCool Junction (20:43.58).

Lambley will likely be returning to this course in pursuit of a state title on Oct. 19.

Tiger junior Damon Latta also delivered an impressive No. 7 finish (17:44.39) among 280 Class D boys.

Many McCook athletes also competed in the Class B division of this huge meet.

Junior Elsi Rodewald captured her own No. 10 finish with a time of 20:38.23.

Freshman Grace Cappel captured 62nd place (22:53.2).

The Bison boys finished 18th overall with junior Riley racing to 29th and recording a fine time of 17:51.89.

More than 220 runners competed. McCook’s next best finisher was freshman Josh Hegwood in 81st place (18:49.17).
