ARAPAHOE, Neb. — Frank Delbert Weatherwax, 91, died Tuesday (June 26, 2018), at C.A. Mues Good Samaritan Center in Arapahoe, Neb.

He was born Oct. 13, 1926, to Willie Delbert and Opal Lois (Odell) Weatherwax in Union Township, Furnas County. He graduated from Arapahoe High School in 1945. He was drafted into the U.S. Army. and served for two years as a military policeman, advancing to the rank of corporal. He was honorably discharged from 1201st ASU, MP & PG Det., Fort Jay, Governor’s Island, New York City, N.Y.

He returned to family farm to work with his father and married Jean Elizabeth Carter on July 16, 1950. He was a seed salesman for 35 years and worked for Anderson’s Livestock.

After his wife passed away, he married Viola E. Konken on Oct. 10, 1998, at Niobrara, Neb.

He was a member of First Methodist Church of Arapahoe and of the American Legion.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jean; sister, Lois; and brothers-in-law, Elmer Voss, Lloyd (Bud) Hahn, W. Donald Carter, Galen Carter and Orville Pinn.

Survivors include his wife, Viola of Niobrara; children, Mona of Niobrara and Mark and wife, Lesli of Arapahoe; step-children, Lee (Sandy) Konken of Fort Myers, Fla., Bob (Carol) Konken of Patterson, N.Y., Pat (Rick) McElhaney of Waterloo, Iowa and John (LeAnn) Konken of Stockbridge, Ga.; brother-in-law, Richard (Lula Mae) Carter of McCook, Neb.; sisters-in-law, Lori Carter of Rock Springs, Wyo., Carol Pinn of Sioux Falls, S.D. and Bonnie (Meryl) Johnson of Eden Prairie, Minn.; five grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren and eight step-great-grandchildren.

Services are Saturday, July 7, 2018, 10:30 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Arapahoe with Rev. Becky Saddler officiating. Inurnment is at the Arapahoe Cemetery with military rites given by Arapahoe American Legion and U.S. Army Honor Guard.

Wenburg Funeral Home of Arapahoe is in charge of the arrangements.
