NORTON, Kan. — Ruth Ella “Shirt” Vahling, 93, formerly of New Almelo, Kan., died Thursday, June 7, 2018, at the Andbe Home in Norton.

She was born Jan. 13, 1925, in Norton to Dick and Alice (Brown) McKenna and was raised on a farm west of Norton.

She married Allie F. Vahling on May 10, 1944, in New Almelo and they lived on a farm northeast of New Almelo.

She was a homemaker and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Altar Society, New Almelo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, Loyal and Norman “Rip” McKenna; and one sister, Leona “Buzz” Britton.

Survivors include her son, Dick Vahling (Betty) of Dresden; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Vigil and Rosary service were Sunday, June 10, 2018, at St. Joseph Parish Center in New Almelo.

Mass of Christian Burial was today, June 11, 2018, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in New Almelo with Rev. Jose Kumblumkal officiating. Burial was at St. Joseph Cemetery, New Almelo
