TRENTON, Neb. — Karmon Kay Hovey, age 47, of Trenton, passed away on May 10, 2018, at Great Plains Regional Hospital in North Platte.

She was born in McCook, Neb., on Dec. 27, 1970, to Tom and Marilyn (Dewey) Hovey. Karmon attended Trenton Schools, graduating from Trenton High School in 1989. Karmon continued her education, attending McCook Community College and later the McCook Beauty Academy, where she earned a cosmetology license.

After moving back to Trenton in 1993, she opened her own beauty shop, "Karmon's Kut n Kurl." She also worked for the Trenton Agency for 23 years as an assistant, gaining her Insurance Agent licenses in 2003. Karmon has been a member of the Trenton Fire Department and Trenton Rescue for 27 years.

On July 12, 2002, she welcomed Gage Tate Petersen into the world. She enjoyed watching him grow up. Karmon enjoyed attended his sporting events. Karmon loved helping people. She loved to cook and was often asked for her potato salad and coleslaw. She attended many sporting events and loved to go to stock car races . She also raced stock cars for a couple of years with Dave Wimer.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ivan and Nila Dewey and Arthur "Pug" and Doris Hovey; uncles, Kurt Hovey, Delmar Dewey; and aunts, Delores Davis and Barb Dye.

Karmon is survived by her son, Gage Petersen; parents, Tom and Marilyn Hovey; sister, Kayla and husband, Zach Hodges; brother, Todd Hovey and nephews, Remington and Wade Hodges, all of Trenton; along with numerous friends and extended family.

Funeral services will be at the Church of God in Trenton on Thursday, May 17, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. with Kyle Nichols. Visitation will be at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in Trenton on Wednesday, May 16, 2018, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Family will be present from 5 to 7 p.m. to greet friends. Burial will be in the Trenton Cemetery.
