A slice of appreciation

The McCook Chamber of Commerce treats Bobbi Barton and others who volunteer their time and talent to the chamber to Sehnert’s Bakery pie Tuesday afternoon, during the chamber’s annual “Volunteer Appreciation” thank-you event. Chamber director Jamie Mockry said the chamber could not operate without its volunteers. “We rely on our volunteers every day,” he said. Thinking really hard, Jamie said it would be nearly impossible to figure out how many hours that the chamber’s 500-or-so volunteers donate to the chamber in one year. Dee Spicer, the chamber’s administrative assistant, said, “We’d have to count every meeting … every event, and all the planners behind all the scenes. They’re always faithful to come when we ask for help.”
