Area athletes are all-state in class

LINCOLN, Neb. — McCook High’s 10 scholars lead a large area contingent of winter sports athletes who’ve earned All-State Academic honors from the Nebraska School Activities Association.
All recipients were announced recently and can be seen on nsaahome.org.
The top 10 Bison students represent six winter activities including speech team.
Boys basketball: Zach Sehnert and Gabe Sehnert.
Girls basketball: JoAnn Neel and Bailey Honn.
Boys’ swimming: Andrew Graff and TJ Renner.
Girls’ swimming: Kylee Hauxwell and Emily Jacobs.
Speech: Hauxwell and Beth Hoyt.
Wrestling: Alec Langan.
Meanwhile, every other Gazette-area school also made their mark on this winter sports All-State team.
Arapahoe’s eight: Spencer Watson and Cooper Schutz in boys’ basketball; Mariah Watson and Alayna Whipple, girls’ basketball; Jackson Koller and Branigan Schaben, wrestling; Adrienne Einspahr and Desteny Miller, speech.
Cambridge’s eight: Preston Carbaugh and Cameron Hagedorn, boys’ basketball; Kati Moore and Bria Tomlin, girls’ basketball; Shane Horwart and Michael Jaeger, wrestling; Abby Andrews and Adelyn Sides, speech.
Chase County’s eight: Jack Bauerle and Scott Wheeler, boys’ basketball; Ragan Nickless and Lauren Gockley, girls’ basketball; Caine Haarberg and Trevor Peterson, wrestling; Tegan Towns and Hayley Vitosh, speech.
Southwest’s seven: Derek Greenlee and Dylan Hoffman, boys’ basketball; Ashley Kragelund and Jadyn Brooks, girls’ basketball; Wrestling: Wyatt McConville and Matthew Van Pelt; speech: Brooks and Lanie Overton.
