Armor coating projects planned
McCOOK, Neb. — Red Willow County commissioners and roads superintendent Tyson Bardsley discussed possible armor coating projects for the summer of 2018 during the commissioners’ weekly meeting Monday morning.
Each year, the county tries to do about 10 miles of armor coating; the average cost is usually $15,000-16,000.
The projects they discussed for 2018 are Bartley north, about 6 1/2 miles; the armor-coated portion of the county road to Heartland Cattle Co.; the Danbury-Marion Cemetery road; and West Third north. They also wondered about buying asphalt millings for the Cambridge lake road.
It appears oil may be a bit cheaper than last year. Bardsley said he’s still getting gravel prices.
Bardsley also presented the signed agreement for the bridge match program, during which a bridge near Danbury will be replaced with a culvert. Bardsley said the county can advertise for bids for materials after the state approves the plan.
Commissioner Earl McNutt said construction will probably begin late summer/early fall. The project must be completed by Dec. 31, 2020.
He also presented the state’s bridge scour report on a bridge southwest of McCook over the Driftwood Creek.
