Wyoming guard joins MCC basketball

McCOOK, Neb. — Tyra Cheatham, a 5-8 guard from Riverside High School in Basin, Wyoming, has signed a national letter of intent to play basketball next season at McCook Community College.
“Tyra is a player that loves to be in the gym and competes,” McCook Community College Coach Kellen Fenetti said. “She is a player that we believe can shoot the 3 point shot and be a player on the perimeter.”
Cheatham is a three-time all-conference player and winner of the Sportsmanship Award. She is two-time conference offensive player of the year and is second in Wyoming 2A in scoring for her junior and senior years.
She is also a three-time all-conference volleyball player and was named her conference’s best all-around player.
During her senior season, she averaged 15 points per game and three steals.
“I believe that she can make an impact for our team on and off the floor, and she will be a great teammate as well,” Fernetti said. “She is a great all-around person.”
Tyra is the daughter of Joe and Jackie Cheatham, Basin, Wyoming.
