McCOOK, Neb. — A McCook woman arrested for third offense drunk driving in 2016 was sentenced to jail, probation time and ordered to pay a $500 fine earlier this month in Red Willow County District Court.

The woman, 30-year-old Jessica R. Shafer of 801 East 5th Street, accepted a plea agreement admitting guilt to a Class W misdemeanor for second offense DUI and was subsequently sentenced to 10 days in county jail, 24 months probation, ordered to pay a $500 fine and her driver’s license was revoked for 18 months. She was also given credit for 1 day in jail already served.

Shafer was originally facing a Class 3A felony alleging third offense DUI with a blood-alcohol content at (.168), more than double the legal limit.

Shafer was arrested in November of 2016 after law enforcement officers spotted her vehicle traveling without headlights and swerving from one side of a street to the other, according to court documents.
