Trojan triumphs put them at 10-2
CAMBRIDGE, Neb. — Few teams are winning like the Cambridge boys this winter as they scored two more weekend triumphs over Sutherland and Maxwell.
The Sutherland contest was closer, but a 26-point second quarter ignited Cambridge’s 61-53 road victory.
Sophomore Paxton Ross poured in 21 points on seven of 10 field goals, including his sizzling five-for-seven effort from beyond the arc.
Junior Preston Carbaugh added 16 points — three for six from long distance — and senior Caden Houghtelling pounded inside to 13 points.
Senior Tyler Borland’s six points helped close out the Friday night win.
On Saturday, Cambridge hit Maxwell with 24-point second and fourth quarters during a 79--34 triumph.
Carbaugh’s 22 pointers featured a perfect four for four from long distance.
Ross ripped in 14 points and Borland tallied 12.
There were 11 different Trojans who hit shots. Zion Moyer’s six points was followed by Houghtelling and Eubanks scoring four apiece.
Carbaugh also secured a team-high six rebounds.
Cambridge finished off Maxwell during a 24-5 third period which made it 65-26.
